STRAIGHT TALKIN’ MIKE SUMMARY:

Maliki seems to be in a little bit of hot water right now… I’d look for him to maybe end up in front of Parliament real soon… They want to hear about this case of Shabibi and the Central Bank but they’re trying to keep it quiet and on the Q.T. for now.

"MP vows to reveal corrupt file the central bank soon"

There are certainly a lot of people that are going to be pulled down in this investigation of the C.B.I., and we’ve talked before about the number of people that were there and how they’re tied to the banks… And it does lead back to Maliki… You can see that they’re starting to come out and kind of get things together and moving forward with that investigation… It’s going to be a little bit slower, but like I’ve said before I really think it’s all linked to Maliki leaving, so we’ll keep our eye on it.

It’s like they want to keep this secret… They don’t want to put the names out because what might be there… One of the things I’ve always thought is that Nijaifi might have his hands in the pot, and it would behoove them to kind of keep the names quiet and keep everybody quiet, and they really don’t want this to get out so that it’s into the newspapers… Lots of things going on with the government side with the elections coming up and they’re really trying to keep it all fairly quiet as we move forward… I’m likin’ what we’re hearing on the CBI side because we want Dr. Shabibi to have his day and out these people but I think it’s gonna come at the end because Maliki is in a real bind… So we’ll wait and see.

"Central Bank Investigations Reveal "Levy" Parties Monthly Gains!!"

As you can see, the corruption is tied to a lot of people. Having a degree in International Business at one time in my life that I studied, it’s a very interesting business… But as you can see, many hands are in the pot and many of these hands lead back to Maliki’s party… And ambassadors and politicians that have been put in these positions and you can understand why Nijaifi does not want to have these names out there because it affects a lot of people… A lot of people have all this time and money put into here and you can see that the Central Bank was doing what they were doing, and the people on the outside were causing most of the problems of what was going on… So it’s very very interesting that you’re starting to hear these things as we go forward… So really keep your eye on this… This is really going to get a lot of people into Maliki’s party and it’s really going to get into his chances for reelection and all that kind-a good stuff. Things are moving along… Things are moving good… I’m likin’ it so far.

"World Bank advisers: political commitment to succeed social safety nets"

The World Banks been in there, the IMF’s been there [International Monetary Fund]… What they were basically there for was to make sure the people were going to get treated respectfully and that the social programs are there for them… So they came out and said this needed to get done..The next article ties into that

Woo Hoo! The real reason the IMF was there is to make sure the Central Bank is… Remember the IMF is going to guarantee the funds and the money… So they are out there to see what’s going on, they are there in an advisory role, but they are definitely checking to make sure that things are moving forward... So the pressures coming onto Iraq from the outside to look in. You got the World Bank you got the IMF in there and they’re all kind-a doing their jobs, but they’re in there kind-a keeping an eye on things to make sure those reserves are there… And in my research they’re still publishing there reserves somewhere between 65 and 70 Million Dollars to the world, so nothing has gone on with those funds, so they’re pretty happy that those are there. But again, they talk about increasing the value and making sure that they’re starting to move the poverty forward… All these things are inadvertently talking about increasing the value and that they need to move forward with that particular project. So, they’re keeping their eye on it making sure that it’s ready to go and ready to move forward in a very kind-a outside way of looking in and putting the pressures that they can put on… All good stuff for us, we like to see this happening… They’re keeping an eye on things so it doesn’t get out of control over there on the Central Bank side.

CBI / ECONOMY SUMMARY

We’re keeping an eye on things, the World Bank has come in to check things out, and the IMF is there checking things out… They’re trying to keep their corruption under wraps so that it doesn’t point back, but there’s a lot of people looking at it… There are going to be a lot of people that are gonna fall in this investigation, and Dr. Shabibi will come back when most of these people are gone… All good stuff!

"Sadrists: ready to oust al-Maliki after pleading guilty to corruption of the arms deal" [Most interesting Government article of the day].

I think this kind-a puts it together… There was a lot of dealings with this Russia deal, Maliki wanted arms, looks like he was willing to do anything they wanted him to do for them and got caught… He got caught in such a manner that was very easy for people to see… Now remember that it’s very difficult sometimes to describe the kind of corruption that’s going on over there with what the people can't see… So you have to kind-a look at these things and say: If I can see it, and the people can see it, and it’s easy to explain to them – then it’s easy for them to act because they are acting in the interest of their country… And it looks like he has gotten himself in a world of hurt because they are ready, they are ready to move forward, and they are ready to either bring him in and question him on this matter, or they want to do a vote of no-confidence. The boiling pot is moving… it is getting hotter and hotter for him and this was ANOTHER BAD DAY FOR HIM!

Sounds like they want to bring him to Parliament to answer questions on these things… Very very very very good news for us to bring him in front to answer these things that are going on… WOW that’s good stuff folks! He’s under a lot of pressure, a lot of pressure at this particular time and they're ready to get him.

"Congress state law succeeded in keeping Talabani, Maliki"

We're basically seeing Talabani step away from Maliki to get into it with Barzani [with the Kurds]… What is happening in the Kurdish region, I'm gonna kind-a sum it up because there were a lot of articles out there today… Maliki is sending troops to their region down there… Americans want to send troops to protect them, put them over there… What he’s trying to do is influence the Kurdish election to break-up Barzani so that Barzani doesn't get elected, so he’s trying to influence those regional elections… So he’s trying to break-up the party from within… And Talabani sees what’s going on, that he’s got his hands in the jar with the Russian deal, he’s trying to break-up the Kurdish region and that he no longer has the best interest in Iraq in his mind and he’s done with it… So Maliki is trying to get rid of him now… He doesn't have the support and he knows that Talabani has the power to call all these things in and to get them done… So it’s interesting, he’s losing his allies… Gotta love it!

The Kurds want representation in the states like a state level representation here, they're pushing very hard to get these councils done. Here’s the undercurrent of what’s going on… We're seeing the formation of the governments trying to form itself… We're starting to see Maliki topple and crumble… Now we've been here before, he’s a very resilient politician… But he’s crossed the line in so many different ways that it’s very easy to start explaining this to people and they're starting to get it… His allies are really starting to separate themselves and they're starting to focus on him.

Now remember… What did he do? He went in and he took over the Central Bank. It’s no wonder now that he’s getting all the pressure that he’s getting because of what he’s done in the Central Bank. The financial powers that run a lot of what’s gonna go through there are not happy with what’s going on over there… Where starting to see this pressure… We've had Biden make 2 or 3 phone calls over there already… There’s been a lot of pressure… We're hearing about troops over there, maybe going into Pershmega keeping an eye on those things… You gotta love it… Things are moving.

This is one of those days where I sit back before the holidays and probably when we come back on Tuesday there’s gonna be a lot that may be happening… We're really gonna see what develops with Maliki as we move along and as we move forward through all of this… And that we actually get ourselves a chunk of what’s going on… We want to see what’s actually going to happen when it’s all startin’ to go… But it’s all moving in the right direction… What’s that mean to us? Well, certainly I've said before this needs to be plan B not plan A… I don't expect to see things happening before the end of this year, not to mean that they can't… Putting it all into perspective, the government needs to be formed, that’s the position that we take here… We're starting to see that happen… You need to have someone in front of that CBI or Dr. Shabibi or someone that the Central Bank wants as the head of all of that… Now they've tried to offer up all these names and do different things but you notice they haven't succeeded in any of that because Dr. Shabibi is still basically the Sudo head of that bank because he hasn't been removed properly… He’s just been charged, they have all these things that are going on out there, and slowly but surely it’s all going to come together here after we go through and see what’s going on.

And you've got to keep your eye on what’s going on over in Israel and the Middle East, there’s a lot going on you've got a war that you don't’ want to have breakout… You've got people who are trying to broker that situation… Basically they have more bombs that have been dropped on Israel then there have been on England in World War II in the last 2-3 years… So it’s a very grave situation over there. Eventually they're gonna have to come to some sort of consideration of what’s going on… But Iraq is that key piece in there because let’s fly over to everywhere, Iraq and Iran, and you've got that going, and they're gonna talk the rhetoric, they're gonna put it out there because they don't’ want to alienate themselves from the other Arabs in that region because they're all saying the same thing… they all kind-a believe it too. So keep it in perspective… Let’s see how we go.

You're gonna hear lot’s of blurbs come up through this weekend, let it sit, put it away for the weekend… Don’t’ listen to anyone that’s callin’ it over this holiday period because it’s not gonna happen… There are still things that need to go… Keep your head up and keep yourself focused on what’s going on… What we're looking for is Maliki to be removed and the government to be formed… Once that’s done, then we have a real good chance of them really getting their economy off and moving.

Remember, the infrastructure is very important… The government has to work, they have to have the banks, they have to have the stuff that needs to make the fuel of the economy work… And that government does that… So there you have it!

The crux of what was going on out there today… It’s easy to kind-a explain these things as you get them going in small bits and pieces… Keep your eye on Maliki, that is certainly where we need to keep our eyes on and what needs to happen with him as they move forward… Very very excited to see these articles that are coming out… Excited to see the pressure on him… I wanna see him removed very shortly… I think you gotta keep your eye on the Kurds and you gotta keep your eye on Talabani here because they are the key right now… Maliki’s trying very hard to break them up, but they’ve got enough now, the Sadrists are not happy with the ration cards, they've got a lot on Maliki and its just as simple as trying to associate many people with inside his party so that you can get them to start to separate themselves… So I want to see some articles with them moving on their way out… So there you have it! That’s it... it really is it now LOL!

To sum it all up is Maliki really had a bad day...The tone has changed - Talabani and his position - The position of the Kurds and the Tigriss Operation which we all have a better understanding of
Kuwait basically saying you need to decide what the future is going to be bring and have vision for what is going to happen in the future and what that means is they are going to be GCC - we are going to have cooperation here in the Gulf - We are all going to be on the same page one day so why not start today? You need to get out of the way or comply and if Syria goes down which you know Kuwait's position is that Syria is going to fall and that there is going to be a new regime/leadership there and what that means is we are all going to be in one basket together - Iran is going to be the odd man out and you really need to figure out how you want to position yourselves because your people they definitely want to position themselves in a place were they can prosper
Things going on in Jordan and Syria are being watched by everyone in that region - Things going on in Israel are being watched by the people
and Maliki is just being hit over and over - its like having a body blow...then a head shot....like in a boxing analogy.....body blow....head shot all in the same round.......today was a Bad Day and he is going back to his corner battered and beatened and he has to actually make a decision - The corner has a towel in the hand and they want to throw it in and say the fight is over - the fight is coming to an end - I believe Maliki is not going to have too much fight left in him

What we are looking for next - The move is in Maliki's court - we are either going to see him double down which he probably will and then it becomes Talabani's move - truly is he going to quickly call for all of this?
I think based on what I can tell in my opinion it looks like the people who are up against Maliki (Talabani, Allawi, all these guys) have the blessing of the US to do what they need to do - I don’t think there is anything that needs to be done they just need to go in and do it - They need to do it before they get ripped into some sort of civil War because you do not want that to happen - Maliki has got to go and they have to form this government

You have people defending the Central Bank – Waiting for Shabibi to come back - My guess is once they realize whats going on in the government side that he will come back - In this era of fighting right now I do not think you are going to see Shabibi show up anytime soon

As I said the other night, I would not expect anything major to happen before the end of the year - not saying it can't happen but with the things that are going on over there inside the government until they can get that straight where somebody can go in there and work they are not going to add value to their currency in the present state of this government right now giving Maliki any more power than he already has - it would be like giving the people a sleeping pill at this point in time

It is going to happen at some point in time but we need to get the stability in the government and the Central Bank people over there running things again in order for this to really take off and do what it is going to do - People are going to flood there right now and it will become the jewel of the Middle East but there is alot of volatility over there - thats the risk that we have

The Game changed when Shabibi ran into the issues with Maliki and Maliki was able to do something while he was outside of the country - now we are coming thru picking up the pieces - Its really on Talabani to get his government and his people straightened out in the way that he needs to - the currency and what the Central Bank has done is set themselves up to come in and any point in time once they have that stability in the government within a few months because you have to stabilize that currency before you do anything which should not be too hard and they need to get those banking laws passed

Those are the two things that really need to be done -Infrastructure there and there is alot of things getting done we don't hear about or are in print in the news - They are still voting on things in the background but the forefront of the conversation is all about whats going on in the government and what is going on with Shabibi

How much do you want to bet when Shabibi comes back and Maliki is on his way out that an article comes out and says Shabibi says yes he did get his hand on some of the reserves - maybe 2-4-10 million or whatever that number might come out to be and that will be the final chapter in absolutely putting Maliki away for a long time when it is all said and done.....You just don't go up against the Central Bank - Not a Good thing

They probably pulled up and realized the money or the records were not there and said uh oh now what are we going to do? Well they are kinda screwed at this point in time because they have showed their hands so when Shabibi comes back I am sure there are going to be all kinds of things come out on that when it is all said is done

Again....Maliki had more bad days and it looks like it is going to keep getting worse.....

Quick Overview
Lots going on - Parliament is trying to take control over what they have control over they are trying to do things constitutionally - Do they have the ability to seat the ministers? Do they have the ability to force Maliki to do the things that they need to do - Does the ability to form these committees stay where they need to stay?
And they are taking full advantage of this and passing laws and passing the Commissions and doing the things and Maliki is just having a fit about it - They are going thru and doing what the need to do and it is just amazing to see his reaction to some of this news day after day
Today one of the things that happened which was very interesting that was in the news today off of the Parliament website - they passed the regulation to allow Iraq to have international banking where they have banks inside Iraq and outside Iraq - so Iraq can come back and put a bank in New York and be international just like HSBC, etc - they amended the law to do that so folks important things are getting passed - don't think that things are not getting passed during this time when Shabibi is not there - They had 217 show up to Parliament today in the House and they are feverishly passing things at this point in time that are affecting how this government is going to operate in the future and what they are going to do - I do not know what happened - I think they all have a pretty good idea that Maliki has his hands in the cookie jar and they are trying to separate themselves from him as quickly as they can - I think Nujafi has been fooled -   I think they all realize they have been fooled and when Shabibi lays this out that they are going to be there
Now what is Maliki trying to do? He is trying to get the people on his side - people do not have a high respect for him at this point in time - they are just as tired of what is going on over there - from the news we are hearing there are troops over there - and some say they are not - my guess is the troops were probably put over there to kinda keep the peace before the the election - Trust me he is starting to feel it from everywhere even from his own people - That is why he is working so hard with Kuwait to try to get Chapter 7 done
We saw tons of articles on that - he may get it done but it is really not going to help him in the things that are going on there - Really have to tell you great stuff

Very cool article....you can start to see the pieces coming together - they want to have the Americans come back in - this is part of the Future of Iraq Project for us to come back in and rebuild, financial situation, ect - Very very very interesting this shows up today after the election it kinda gives you the idea they are ready for this influx and getting things going........Loved it

"Claims the exit of Iraq from Chapter VII"
Wow.....one of the questions I had is what would the Obama administration do now that they are in the next 4 years
would we see some pressure - do they want to see this happen? Do they want to see change here?   These are all some of the questions I had.....I think to date this is the strongest article we have seen that tells us that there is a direction the US wants to go
and they are willing to get them out of Chapter 7 - Again I have always told you on this show that Chapter 7 is directly tied to the formation of their government - so basically what this article says is form your government and you are out of Chapter 7 - We are also going to enforce the Strategic Framework Agreement we have for your government and move things along - remember there is a plan   - The jewel here is in the first article - companies putting them to work - getting things to go - getting things to do - cutting the deficit - doing those type of things - putting companies back to work and bringing the money out of there and getting this RV to happen - we will do those things - we will add a tremendous amount of money back into the economy - so you can see they are pushing for that and that is Great - we want to see that......That is what we want to see happen - we need to see the US actively being involved over here because they need the help - Now with this election maybe we will see them put heavy pressure on them whereas before we didn't see much - So either do we leave our hands off or are we going to go thru and do this...and have to tell you one of the two articles I really liked today was these first two
There is alot going on in the government - I could not give you the amount of articles we read that they are starting to pass, complete and work thru things - We are going to talk about the Strategic Economic Council who is really PO'd, etc - Do you see a pattern starting to develop here on the economy? It is my opinion that Shabibi needs to come back and this is all going to be pushed and forced..
I think Maliki will find himself cornered...tied...and not knowing where to go....again I do not endorse any of the other candidates cause they are just as bad as the other one - I am not an Iraqi citizen - I know the citizens are getting tired of Maliki and the Window Dressing and I think they get the understanding that he wants to be a dictator and that is not what they want - I think we have a clear understanding that is what Maliki wants to do and is not what we want to happen - theres one thing I know this administration believes in is the free will of people to design government they need to have - lot of money here...lot of oil revenues - lots going on here - these are things we like to see moving forward because without these things in place there is nothing to support an RV.....you just can't RV your money and not have the private sector ready....the banking sector ready, etc
Everybody is entitled to their opinion out there on when and how it will happen - you can argue about free float, managed float whatever......But if the basics of the economy are not set its all for not.........that's what you need to look at because once they add value to this you have to get the people to put the money in the banks - the banking system has to work like the Central Banking System is supposed to work - loan money - borrow debt - get people to pay their taxes - people have to have money - today one of the things that we saw Maliki is trying to get rid of these Ration cards - well they are not too happy with that - he wants to give them money....I think Maliki wants to take it away because of the 25% revenues that might be put on those cards and he doesn't want them to have it - he knows how easy it is to put the revenues on those cards - I believe he wants to make it hard on the people to go get there money - Maliki doesn't want to give anything to the people in my opinion- he wants to become a dictator - he wants an army - We read some articles today about Maliki going out and sealing this deal with Russia and then another one that Parliament saying whoa whoa you can not do this deal - we don't want you to do this deal- what is he trying to do - he is trying desperately to get an army to control people - trying desperately to keep the people depressed
If somebody comes out and tells you that Maliki wanted to RV this 2 weeks ago - he has been in charge of the Central Bank for 2 weeks now - if he wanted to RV the currency all he had to do is set the price and it goes - just like Saddam did - he didn't give a crap about the IMF, banks, etc --if it was something he wanted to do he would have forced it because he has the upper hand - Remember to a certain degree the economies are waiting for this to happen so he had the upper hand if he had really wanted to do that and force it and force the bank to accept it because you have the upper hand - they need the infusion of cash out there

I always analyze everything that is going on in this currency valuation based on economic factors and you need to look at it that way too -
and when you look at the government its still based on economic factors and them getting together what they do - you could pay hundreds of dollars for reports on what is going on over there but its really simple - its not very hard - We talk alot on this call with LJ and what they are trying to implement over there - they are trying to put something together that the rest of the countries can follow over there to a certain degree......Remember you have countries that are somewhat radicalized versus those that aren't and the whole Arab Spring has turned things upside down but Iraq can become the model for the rest of these countries to kinda operate inside there - Remember Its money...its oil....its keeping that all together....
Take a step back - always look at the things that need to happen and that you have in place and what you need to have in place and it truly is economics and as you start to analyze whats going on - you can break down the parties of what they are doing but keep it to the basics so you don't get confused - we could talk about all of this other stuff and get technical but it really is all about the economics and who is trying to get in charge - Maliki knows there is alot of oil there - he would really like that power and the money - to do for his radical reasons to get into Iran and to do the things they need to do - Have to tell you that with Maliki gone Iran needs to be isolated even more than it is and we are trying to get that isolation as best as we can - we may even be talking to them at this point in time but if we can shut off there money economically and shut them down that will get them to the table or to do the things that they need to do quicker....Follow the money

Loved this article too....another one of my favorites.....I think it is the first time I have seen in 1 1/2 years where Maliki is showing his weakness and you are starting to see from American that this is what we want to do and how we are going to do it.
I think it is funny......Go ahead and resign Maliki and do what you are going to do - ultimately once he resigns they just go to his party and say okay you either put somebody in there or we put Allawi in there, etc and we are there - There is alot going on to buck Maliki - I loved the picture of him standing there all by himself in this article....loved it.....hopefully he is starting to get isolated and we are starting to see these type of articles we like to see where it is putting Maliki on an island - love to see these type of articles - bring more of these on.......Listen to the recording for the rest of the discussion

"Collect 100 signatures to the enactment of the Strategic Economic Council"
Why does Maliki NOT want this Council? This Strategic Economic Council is huge....Its a council that would almost take the place of the Parliamentary Finance Committee..and Maliki has controlled that to get what he needs to do and to get done in Congress - so this Economic Council would have the power to constitutionally get out there and work with the Central Bank with economic policy and come back to Parliament and say these are the laws that we need sorta working as that intermediary between Central Bank and Parliament
Guess who is just fuming about this Economic Council? Now they may not have alot of power but that's basically what it is going to do - and Its really PO'd Maliki - he doesn't want this - he will not be able to seat that with his people - because there are really not politicians that go there - you could have one or two - these are economics people and a committee.....he is not going to be able to have enough people to stack that Committee to get what he wants.........pretty cool - loved this one too...........listen to recording for the rest of the discussion....

You would think that Shabibi would know that since he has been there since 2004...looks like there is going to be some kind of party there.....party for me??....No No...Party for Shabibi lets hope......looks like they are starting to demand more information and it looks like Shabibi is getting ready too.....Everybody is kinda understanding whats going on - You have to remember as we talked about this last call..hopefully you can follow along - You have things that were going on before Shabibi was there and supposedly he was dealing with it and if you look at the auctions you can see the differences in the auctions each day - certain amount of money that is no longer moving out and into banks ..so one of two things happened - the banks are deciding not to participate because they do not want to kill the economy or kill the exchange rate and/or the banks that were stealing have decided to back out
Now whatever we decide that is what we are going to do they are going to be able to take a look at what banks are not there - theres a lot of information to had - I think when Shabibi comes back and starts to defend himself we will see things - we are seeing alot articles out there that are talking about the replacement for Shabibi and how they are fighting over that replacement - Remember IF he is NOT found guilty he will be put back in so the search for somebody is mute - Keep an eye on that.....I think when Shabibi comes back he will come back with all of his guns loaded - he always does really really well defending himself whenever he has a situation that he needs to prove himself and he is always a strong character - I think this bad week for Maliki is going to turn into 2-3 bad weeks for Maliki - he is always of strong character - I think this bad week for Maliki is going to turn into 2 or 3 bad weeks for Maliki especially if the election does not go his way - I think the walls are starting to come down all around Maliki

I loved this article.......We are all out there trying to figure out what is going on - the gurus come out and start making speculation - crazy speculation on whats going on - the fact that matter is its been pretty quiet - we don’t know what direction this is going - We all know that Shabibi needs to come back - I have a strong feeling he is going to come back and finish what he started - I do know this if he comes back HE WILL BE THE MOST POWERFUL MAN IN IRAQ.....He will be untouchable at that point – He will have a Solid Central Bank of Iraq and he should be able to get just about anything he wants

I'll be back.....as the Terminator said.........now the "Shabinator" speaks.......Sounds like he was busted for possession........This really lays it out - this is Shabibis case - We deal with the auction - we have a set of rules - the rules are set - we do not keep databases - and that is what they were looking for - its almost clear they were going in looking for these databases on records of who was taking the money and whose not - they get there and they don’t find an databases - its like look guys were are not required to keep databases - its not part of what we do and how the money is going out - We are required that they need these specific transactions and we stabilize the currency - we've done that and are ready to go - Now I am sure he knows where most of this was going and where it was - Remember he was drawing this off the street - he wants to make a change in his currency at some point in time and he was drawing this off the street - these guys get in there - they don’t know whats going on - they are really having a very difficult time finding out what he did - its almost like if you were a mathematician and you walked into a complex equation and you looked at it you might say whats going on - whats the deal? and thats kinda of where they are...We have the upmost confidence when the Shabinator returns he will have a very very very powerful case that he was taken out for political reasons versus monetary reasons - I do not think you want to argue monetary policy with this guy - I think that would be idiotic - Look forward to it happening...but Remember guys we are hoping this happens Thursday but we have been here before - things we expect to happen and come out in the news don't always happen that way - Obviously Shabibi has an argument and is ready to come back and take care of his case - its after the election and we will have by tomorrow some kind of idea of who is going to be running our country - if we have any delays here it could also delay it in Iraq - if that happens I hate to say that these things are tied together but remember we are a World Power - we have a big say over there - and Remember we have a 2 party system - the original party who came in and did this had one idea - then taken over by another with different ideas and a different set of ways they want to go and now you have a guy who has similar ideas that is going to be similar to the first that came in - If Romney comes in he is a business man and will be able to understand the fiscal nature of this stuff over there and what needs to be done to keep Iraq going and thats in line with the banks, etc ...Things have been at kinda of standstill but we are seeing movement finally.....moving at a quick pace behind the scenes - There is so much going on over there at this point in time - Maliki trying to gain power so many different ways - we are almost watching two different situations - him taking over the Central Bank - he may end up losing that battle but he still has the battle inside the government

Talking about Basel 3 compliance - Let's go with what had happened over here in the US -We had the crisis over here that was with to the mortgages - we are all quite aware of that - some of that has put us in some bad situations - where we had the derivatives that were backed - the mortgage backed securities - the market - the bubble fell and there were no regulations and alot of regulations stemmed out of there
That kinda sent a ripple through the world - Basel 3 compliance is supposed to keep that from happening - supposed to give Banks enough requirements to have enough capital - To have enough funds on hand if there was a run on the banks - Lets them know where these funds are coming from and going to so they can trace large transactions, etc - And we are not quite aboard with all of the Basel 3 here in the US so everyone is complaining But what it really does is give them the ability to trace transactions and apply sanctions -
In our banking system we are trying to keep a little bit of our own personalized banking that we have over here...the FDIC..the things we have done seem to be enough...we don't want to be as stringent with all of that is going on - It's a fight inside the banking system to see who is going to win - Basel 3 in essence for us in Iraq is they are just going to be able to trace these transactions & they want to make sure that everybody is committed to this Basel 3 and if not they are going to be trying to get everybody on board
Iraq has alot of this already in place - and we are really waiting for the U.S. to come on board with a few other countries - Great Britain...the larger banking systems are kinda having a problem - it is very difficult when you start tieing all of the banking systems together - if you have a ripple someplace else nobody is not sure of what can happen to your banking system - you don't want a run in a small country to create a problem in your country because the system doesn't fail or it does fail - But I think that based on this and what Shabibi has done with this compliance in his country this will give him the ability to come back with everything that he needs to point the finger at Maliki....so we are keeping an eye on this as we go forward...very interesting we are hearing about Basel 3 compliance because I think that is the key - I think they have been doing most of that over there figuring out where the transactions went

One of the things that I am suspicious about is some of these articles coming out they sound almost the same as the week when it first came out with Shabibi and the arrest warrant.........What can that mean if they are doing that? What it generally means is Shabibi could be back in town - there could be things going on behind the scenes -
I thought one of the interesting things in this article is Maliki talks about he doesn't have the size or location of the deposit - I think he went into this looking to see if Shabibi had any information - Its almost like he is afraid they have information on what he was depositing and what banks they went into - We are seeing and reading Shabibi is close to coming back - If we don't see him this week we are going to see more articles in defense of him to really line up his return - nothing really bad is going on - the auctions have come down a little bit - the currency is not too big - they really need to decide this here shortly whats going to happen with the Central Bank because you have the laws of infrastructure and everything else that is going on - you have people coming into invest - we are hearing all over the place this is the place to go whether it is on Fox News, etc.....the economic situation is good - everybody is telling us how great it is - we are hearing alot of information about that as we go on.....They are paving the way for him to come back

Again sounds like similar articles that came out when it happened - a picture in this article looks new however of Shabibi - The difference in these articles and this one it keeps talking about a deposit that they are looking at - I find that very interesting - I really think that IF these are regenerated articles that they are a shot at Maliki across the bowel to kinda let him know that this is what we have you - we have the deposits - we know where the money is at and we know where the bodies are hidden (so to speak)..If they are regenerated they are paving the way for him to come in - he may also already be there working some things
Its almost like some of these articles Maliki talks about not wanting him to be around the bank at all blah blah blah...and some of them say he is there doing some work - he's demanding these employees get released....he's talking about women in some of these that are being targeted specifically - alot in here we did not know about before if these are the facts because we did have an article that said he would be back that Thursday following when all of this happened - the dates seem to be a little aloof in these articles....One or two things going on - either we are laying the groundwork for him to come back in and/or we are putting a shot over Maliki's bowel to let him know what we have on him and its coming back and the papers are slowly leaking this...There were an awful lot of articles about Shabibi today - it was kinda just weird how they hit the articles - its done for a reason - we may not see it up front as we start to go thru things because the government is there - it could be just to keep it on the front pages so that people don't forget about whats going on and to keep pressure on Maliki for the government side because those things absolutely need to happen

The fact that we are still talking about replacements in the news leads me to believe that Shabibi is not quite there yet - what we are seeing is a huge defense of him of him not be there right now - they are releasing more and more information - thats good that is what we want to see - we do not want him off the front pages - we want to make sure the people are informed as to what is going on - alot of what you are seeing is to keep him on the front pages in defense of him - lots of good things going on

So is the Shabinator coming back or not? He told us "HE WILL BE BACK"...you heard it here he will be back....lot of recycling of articles going forward - we think this is laying the groundwork for Shabibi to come back or a shot across the bowel to Maliki...We wait...we watch and we see - we should see more on Thursday and thru the weekend - Is there a 50/50 chance - here is me thinking out loud - two things can happen - you have Shabibi who can come back - you have someone who can replace him like Saleh - remember whoever replaces him if he leaves has to come in from the Central Bank and have some sort of idea for it to be a legitimate person that we are looking for - anybodys name that comes up the first thing that we are looking for is seeing what there pedigree is and how and If they are related to the Central Bank because that will give us the insight we need whether the new person who comes in goes forward - What does that mean to us?   Will Shabibi come back and move this on? Who knows...maybe he is he not feeling well....is he tired of the battle....did he do something wrong? Did he not do it fast enough?   All of those questions will be brought up if he doesn’t come back - that doesn’t matter to us - what we are looking for is that somebody comes in that understands the economy and understands what the groundwork Shabibi laid for his banking system to get it done and understands what is going on - We need to get Maliki's people out of the Central Bank and somebody who can handle them - If we get a replacement that is what we are looking for - If we don't he will come back and we will be back on track with Shabibi - lots going on - we don't have any idea if he is still there - its been very very quiet until the news the last couple of days
Its great that we are hearing about him - we have about a 50/50 chance but it is our opinion Shabibi will be back to defend himself at a bare minimum - whether or not he is replaced or not is still up to the Central Bank and the people that employ him- whether he is the strongest person to be there - whether they want to have him there - what they have going on in government - all kind of set of questions - But certainly the person they replace him with needs to have a Central Bank background IF that is what happens….we don’t know......but more than likely I am leaning toward he is going to come back and defend himself
Shabibi wanted to finish this up before his term ended - I don't think he would go a second term in 2014 - I believe he wants to come back and finish what he started. This is way too important to the world...the Middle East and the financial worlds to let it go much longer

Maliki had a Bad Week and it looks like it is going to get alot worse.

Quick overview - Maliki is trying like heck to circumvent everybody - he wants to get Chapter 7 taken care of - he doesn't want his government formed so what he tried to do in lieu of having any reform papers is to form a new majority govt which would keep him in power - He is failing miserably at that - Its NOT happening - ITS NOT GOING TO HAPPEN - nobody wants it - nobody wants to do it - now all of a sudden he has pressure from all over him because he has failed to do that - now its almost like a shark frenzy coming out - they are starting to see weakness and as they start to see this weakness they are going to start attacking and who came out today.....

"13 deputies of Allawi's Iraqi demanding the formation of a new political body of the list"
Remember what Allawi was calling for here he wants the formation of a new political body - He is talking about the Strategic Council - we talked about Bicamalerism versus Unicamalerism on a previous call - He wants to get out of the Unicamalerism situation - he wants them to enact the Bicamalerism situation which allows them to have two bodies that make laws and that the Prime Minister no longer has the full power that he has and takes it from them - Allawi and his party have been very quiet and now they are starting to demand the formation of this political bloc - you call it whatever you want.......we have had that debate before - they want Erbil implemented and this political body to be taken care of and done....its one of their demands...very very interesting...and then we have the next article which I think was one of the best articles of the day

"Allawi: the Prime Minister to undergo questioning Parliament or go to his house and leave work"

This is my second best article of the day over Shabibis articles - this is the strongest case that Allawi has made for bringing him to Parliament - he wants him there - they need to question him - he basically says you failed to try to form to a government and even if you try to form your own govt that constitionally it is not right - he tells him straight up you would have to resign whether we have the new government or the government that we have decided we needed to have and are you ready for that?   Thats like punching a bully right in the nose - these are two strong statements and it looks like Allawi is about to make his move - I think they have a really good idea this situation is going to get more favorable in the coming days and I honestly believe they probably will - we are starting to see a lot of consensus on whats going on and to just show how bad Malikis week really was..

He is trying to change the conversation guys – don’t let him fool you - he is out there saying this is democracy and truly it is not - He is trying to tell the people that what he wants to do is going to do is going to benefit the people - he has no leg to stand on and I guarantee you that it was Allawi that asked him whether or not whether he really wanted to form his government and you saw Allawi’s response in the previous article - he is trying to change it folks - he is very desperate at this point in time and he really wants to change the conversation - he is going to get forced to do something very quickly if Parliament decides as the articles are indicating they want to seat the ministers ..they want to get the 140 done....they want to push this stuff thru from the Parliament side and push it all onto him to say we have it all consensually put together for you - you have to put your finger on it and at that point in time the interntional community will come down pretty hard if he doesn't

Sounds like the passed the Amnesty law and Maliki does not like it and they passed the Electoral Commission - Remember he is trying to change the conversation folks - I don’t even want to say it was a bad week for him - Its a death nail for him - You have Parliament acting the way they want to - Parliament even went to judiciary and said yes you have the right to do this - they pulled a page from what Maliki has been doing and Maliki is saying No No No its not constitutional - what I want to do is constitutional - it sounds like my little cousin when I play with him - he sits there and wants to play a game and he makes the rules up so he wins and when he doesn't win he starts changing the rules - doesn't it remind you of a little child doing that?   Well that is whats going on......you can tell how bad of a day he is having when he wants to start changing the rules
He is getting pressured from every situation - the minute when Parliament went back in and starting acting and doing things - they had 217 attending today - they got some things done....The Amnesty Law was big for the Sadrists - it was something he had already said that he wanted to already have done - putting his feet down and now he doesn't really have a say - What they are really calling for is the deletion of His Council of Ministers and have that reformed which puts the President and gives most of the control to the President and they are basically trying to put Talabani in charge – that’s what they are trying to do thru a Constitutional type of thing it’s what it looks like from the outside looking in because that is where the power will lie to sign the laws - THIS IS ALL GOOD FOR US FOLKS.....we want these things moving - we want Maliki on his feet and we want him DONE
Don't forget you back a cat into a corner he is going to start fighting so look for his responses to come out about this as we go forward

Government Recap:

Maliki had a bad week - really bad week - Looks like we have the amnesty law passed - we have the Election Commission agreed to for their Provincial elections - Maliki is going to try and postpone those as they come into March and April – that’s not going to happen - I think the International Community will really start to cry out if that happens and you are starting to see the formation or crumbling of him - He goes away - he says he wants to run for a third term - constitutionally he really can't and the reason he is trying to form a majority government right now is to say we don't need elections -that I can stay in because he is not going to win any election and he knows it - he doesn't have the political clout he had four years ago - things change in four years as we see in our country - alot that can happen - whether you think somebody is doing something right or wrong the proof is in the pudding - On how you feel and people feel....that is going to reflected in the elections and he knows that is not where he wants to go - his career dissipation light is on LIMIT and of all the times that we have seen Maliki being backed into a corner it is coming from every angle...Everybody is giving it to him...he really doesn't have any friends anywhere at this point in time

Two articles I wanted to add for tonight that I thought were important...

This is great but remember as we have discussed Maliki is trying to back door Chapter 7 - it is tied to the formation of his government - but honestly seat your government - stop trying to change it and everything will fall into place – it’s all there waiting for him to do it......I guess the last thing I want to say about this is when LJ & Debbie and I were talking the other day Remember folks you see the people that are going to get you what you want which is the RV all as good people - they are not all good people - Allawi, Talabani, etc all have bad pasts in the government and did things they needed to do to get by- they are not angels - when you hear things and read things don't think of it as good or bad - the next guy who comes in is going to have his own agenda to a certain degree but as long as we can get a formation of a government that sorta keeps them in a circle then we are in good shape - so it is not about choosing sides here - Although we don't like Maliki and he had a bad week and he is standing in the way of progress - we would love to get him out of the way but the guys that are coming in aren't any better - they have their agendas and they are going to do what they are going to do - hopefully everything gets put into place when he gets moved out of the way - You have 70% of the people that want to work together and 30% that don't

I like this article because it tells you about the value that is there - he talks about getting British companies to invest in Iraq....Great article.....came out in many news papers - telling us how the economic situation is great except for the political situation - things are going well over there - they are really trying to pump it up - we don't know what we don't know in the political situation - we don't know whats going on behind the scenes - and if we could then we would really like to be a mouse on the wall on some of these things - the direction it is going if you ask me it is very positive - we are seeing VERY VERY POSITIVE THINGS across the scale here as far as how much growth is going to happen in the future - the oil, etc - we know that - be patient - don't think it is going to happen tomorrow - if it does BE HAPPY - there is always that possibility because there is alot in place - I really feel they need to get their government in place and that there is alot going on behind the scenes to help that happen
