Straight Talkin Mike's Transcription of the Recap of Tonight's News
(Listen to the recording for all of the detailed analysis of the articles discussed after each news article listed - the following is just Straight Talkin Mikes recap of the news discussed)
Just some of the comments about the articles discussed before the Recap......(listen to the call for all the detail)
Great Banking article - One of the key sentence in this article was "There is a great desire by the international banks to contract with the Iraqi banks in order to participate in its work"
There are people that want to Flock here - the banks want to flock to Iraq - they want to make sure they are in place so they can grow this economy - They see great value and they are NOT turning there heads - wanting to be there for the investment, etc
This a just another great sign that the banking system is moving ahead ...growing by leaps and bounds
JUST A GREAT ARTICLE - Getting ready to do something over there - probably to loan lots of money and it doesn't look like they what to loan lots of worthless money...doubt the banks would be involved if they were not going to make a profit
Sounds like they listen to our calls....Loved this article -
Great opinion article about the process saying how I feel - The beginning of this article tells you what happened - the exchange rate went to 1500 dinars and they lifted the Purchasing power of the Iraqi people - that means that all in one swoop it basically said you
have no Purchasing Power - In order to set this straight you have to on the other end of the equation - instead of lifting you have to replace the purchasing power at some point in time to the dinar...very nice...what we have been talking about on our calls -
Shabibi will be in Parliament as we will read about next answering questions about the economy etc and this is a support article saying
look don't blame the Central Bank - its the government - the reasons they want to get rid of the traders on the street is they are speculating on the money - they are driving the price in either direction - They need stability...they need a Single window system - all the things the Central Bank is asking for would really benefit the economy - benefit what they are doing and that the government needs to take the role of supporting the Central Bank as opposed to being against the Central Bank - We know Maliki is against just about everything over there because he wants control and power of everything
This was a cool article - it was its nice to see people coming to the aid of the Central Bank - saying look you do not have to worry about this - explaining the process of what happened - lets keep the Central Bank where they are - thats the system in place - thats the system they need to have in place going forward - we do not want any changes to that now - - we are too far along with the process - any changes will prolong the process even more - its nice to see people supporting this process and getting them into the World Power - You have the World Banks kinda coming to their aid - saying we are going to be here - we are going to do banking here - A good theme you are doing the right thing - we want to be there - All the banks want to be there ...because there is going to be value at some point in time - People are going to want to bank - They are going to want to take out loans and want to do all of that - and the banks will make money and thats why they want to be there.....Love that article...not because they think like I do - because it sums up the whole process up and what needs to happen there now - everybody needs to be on the side of the Central Bank so you don't have some crazy dictator out there saying we want to take it over - you have to let the people know that what they are doing is good and it will add
value - not to be be afraid and tell the government to stop working against them
Three great articles tonight....looks like they are on a full court press to clean everything up and move forward full steam ahead
As we always say, the Central Bank has their plan and they are working towards it...Remember the Purchasing Power was artificially taken away from the Iraqis and at some point in time they have got to get it back but they have to maintain the stability in order to do it so that they don't flucutate and start to have some outrageous ups and downs so people can't count on the value of what that is..because it they can't count on the value of the dinar they are going to continue to use other forms of hard currency and that does not bode well for Iraq - You want one system...one currency -you want them to be able to do that as well as they can
Listen to the recording to hear the great comments after the Government articles
RECAP
We talked about the CBI and the Economy
Talked about global banks wanting to move into Iraq partnering with these other banks - those are key things we want to see - for the banking system to get healthier..so if you take all the other stuff that is going on the banking system is getting healthier and healthier - there are things getting passed
We talked about banks being taken over - international banks coming in and all that type of stuff
We had a Great article right before Shabibi is supposed to go up to Capital Hill outlining and telling us what the process was from the beginning and that the Central Bank is doing the best that it can and basically the government has been interfering
Something we have been saying here on this call a long time - cut some slack to the Central Bank - they know what they are doing - give them some help
Then we read about the Commisisons having them up there looking to restart the idea of the government being involved in the monetary policy - there are rules and regulations that need to be passed -
maybe they need to start restricting these street vendors
Certain things that the CBI needs to start gaining control of the internal economy - the external economy is really not there because they don't have a largely international traded currency so he needs to get that under control - So if he starts to get some rules and regulations under control that as they start to add value to that it will bring stability for the whole economy moving forward
What happened with the government today - Maliki tried to have his meeting in Kirkurk -they pretty much told him get away from our party because we are having a Arab Conference down here of our own for our own internal use
We came up with a letter - sent it back to Maliki that said here this is what you need to do - Its like a broken record - we have been saying it over and over again - - implement Erbil...seat the ministers... ..get the contracts signed..make sure that the power sharing agreements are in and make sure you step aside and relieve your controls that you have over this whole government so that we can become a nation that was outlined in the papers that we have moving forward -
And what did Maliki do - well he decided he was going to take a battalion and move it closer to Kirkruk as a sign of show of power of who he is and of course that is what you see in these policital situations- you can see it in our world today as we do these things
If one person does anything its like a chess game - moving from side to side trying to get everything positioned to get themselves going Then we had Talabani come down into this meeting - he kinda was chairing it - he's taking these letters back to Maliki and saying here is what they want - Maliki will pitch a fit and say yes..no...whatever ..but Talabani's trying to be Switzerland and not really end up on anybodys side -at some point in time he's going to have to choose a side and he will choose whichever side is going to win in his estimation because you have to pick the winner or you don't have a political career left after that - it doesn't matter if you are in this country or that country political careers are very important - very lucrative - theres alot that goes on..alot of special things given to the politicians that aren't given to the regular people - whether is here or there - small perks that they all get they all want to have
We discussed another article Maliki getting embarassed down there in Kirkurk and not being able to have meetings
What are the things we need to watch for this week...
Tomorrow we will get lots of news that we will be posting and tweeting between Shabibi being up on Capitol Hill
Please do not get caught up in every little word that comes out and think that whats going on and make assumptions that you don't have the answers to assume or make those assumptions on what that process is going to be towards the RV - they need to talk - they need to understand that they need to pass these regulations - don't get caught up in the process of whats going on - get caught up in what they are answering - Are they going to move forward
What are they going to do?
Looking for some good statements from Shabibi and seeing some good support for the economy
What are we looking for in the government side...That Vote of No Confidence to start gaining to see who they really have - it looks like the political parties have arranged - the outside parties know exactly what they are doing - So now its the National party that we have to look at and see who is going to come along with them there -
that will be the cakewalk we are looking for in the next few days
and or looking for Maliki to go ahead and openly start seating the ministers or trying to do some kind of compromise or some sort of bastardized type of situation which he may try....The show of force is there - He may try to put someone in there who is not the same people - we may hear some new names being bantered about - don't get too excited unless they are from the Iraqiya party and the people who are supposed to be there - so look for those responses to be acceptable to these people and then eventually the Vote of No Confidence or Maliki capitulating - we'll see some sort of National Conference and them go forward as their government moves thru the process and we will start back up with everything that we've got
So its kinda of a frozen moment in time here - looking at those things and thats what we are expecting to see this week as we move forward
Anticipation - Its all part of the process - In any situation always look at what the Businesses are doing....I always look at the Business side of things...Look at whats happening in Iraq...whose still signing contracts...who still wants to come into this country...whose still coming to Iraq...Every business seems to be moving into Iraq -
regardless of who wins or loses in the political suitaution theres value there that people see and be able to get that value out
As I watched the Kentucky Derby this weekend - all the different horses - all the different things that go on - who is supposed to win...who the favorites are....you get a surprise in the end there is some kind of dark horse that is in the middle of the pack that comes out and goes on to win - It kinda reminded me of the whole policital situation - we see in our minds eye the way we would like it to end up - its just our opinion from the outside lookin in but we never know where thats going to go or what it is going to be or whats it going to look like - and who those people are that are going to be there in the end - but we will have a winner in the end - it will work itself out - because these companies are still moving in...coming in and wanting to be there
And there you have it...
