Thanks to "One Carat" for these Notes from the Thursday Conference Call
January 24, 2013
Government:
There will be millions of Iraqi people protesting on Friday, their Holy day, in the streets shouting, " No retreat!" It is said by the organizers it will be the largest protest ever seen, organized & prepared w/a promised surprise believed to terrorize Maliki & his gov. They are demanding, w/blessings of Sistani, their legitimate demands be met. Tired of Maliki's procrastinations, protesters are at the point of wanting his resignation. As articles have mentioned that this is the "Last Warning" things could escalate to violence. It is thought that Al-Queda and old De-Baathification members may be try and infiltrate the protesters with the attempt to cause mayhem to allow for pushback from the government.
Interpol is said to have sent secret communication to Bagdad telling them to stop cooperating with the Iraqi government because of perceived equality in justice. They were told to stand down until a non-biased and impartial court system was in place and free from a dictator, Maliki. They will not honor any arrest warrants on the Iraqi wanted list.
Secret Prison below Bagdad Airport. Maliki denies corruption yet he supervises directly over this prison. Prison run by the Government SWAT Team committing human rights violations; crimes of torture, sexual assault, murder and rape. Some detainees were released & reported including names of the violators. Detainees admitted to crimes they didn't commit just to save their own lives; they were and are innocent.
So much political bickering that Sistani had to speak up. People were arrested under the old, corrupt constitution. They must now undo the wrong by determining who is innocent & who is guilty, lawfully. Set the innocent free; jail the true criminals.
Request to withdraw confidence from Minister of Youth & Sports, Jaafar. He didn't come for questioning in Parliament, instead he emailed answers after the 7day deadline. Jaafar embezzled $1 million, put it in his assistants account who died in a terrorist bombing. The man's wife refused to give him the funds (poetic justice?) from her deceased husbands bank account. . Finance Committee are not convinced with the answers claiming they are not satisfactorily convincing, setting in motion the vote of no confidence.
Maliki & Jaafar guilty of same crime (Maliki much greater! as he has done so much more) the vote of no confidence for Jaafar served as a "dry run" for the real target, Maliki. Maliki asked the Federal Court to challenge the interrogation, but it is inevitable as Parliament indicates nothing will stop it. No confidence is moving ahead. Minister of Education is also slated to be questioned.
Waiting for the passing of 1) Amnesty law 2) Federal Court law 3) Withdrawing Confidence, both Jaafar and Maliki 4) 2 Term Limits for 3 Presidencies, retroactively 5) Justice and Accountability
CBI:
New Electronic Network linking CBI to Finance Committee to Auction eliminating corruption because everything will be tracked. No more money laundering. IMF in town, pushing for this to happen. Shabbibi set this up a while back. CBI moves ahead!
Former CBI Deputy Governor Selah is released on bail. Much pressure to release him. He wasn't set free but out on bail so Maliki could save face. This act is positive, however, ensuring future freedoms. Many will try to take credit for his release, but he shouldn't have been there in the first place!
Maliki gives a little here & there, but never enough. He is being 'chipped away'. Facing interrogations of crimes and corruption, he'll have his day. Know as a procrastinator and a dictator. It's coming out.
Shabbibi's article explained Auctions plainly. Private banks aren't lending if they don't have proof of repayment. They are accused of loaning to family and friends and not to others when the fact is that they loan to whomever will repay; that's good business.
Dr. Turki headed up the investigation against Shabbibi accusing him of corruption, then Dr. Turki takes Shabibbi's place and becomes the CBI Governor.
It is believed that Shabbibi will return soon. Interpol will not enforce any warrants against him and he has proof of his innocence.
Iraq needs to have a calm government, then the dominoes will fall. The value will be added to the currency after that.
