RECAP
Articles we read this evening about the Central Bank is about the attack from Maliki on the Central Bank
Why is that important? Because Maliki wants to take over the Central Bank - he wants to take it over for his own purposes and yes he probably wants to RV and give value to the dinar - but he's more interested not in the money because thats what we are interested in but there not...he interested in the safety - he can keep the people safe but he is more interested in the money for his budget because he doesn't really like the whole Central Banking System - He wants the government to be in control over this and the banking - he doesn't want that separated - he wants it like it was in the old days with Sadam - That doesn't work in your country so that you can't go down to the store and pull out these things and the money you need and not do it - supports your currency - thats what Sadam did - you can't do that - he's under the impression all of his oil he is going to pump out of the ground is going to support his currency but he doesnt realize how the rest of the world operates with that so they are little closed eye to all of that - So the 2 things we talked about is the CBI is being attacked - these are attack articles from Maliki's side
you are going to see alot more of these from Malikis side - trying to point at this high exchange rate -
Who knows why this high exchange rate came out
Maliki could be behind the high exchange rate out there
they could be working against the CBI out there on the street
although the CBI has come out and said we are doing what we need to do - we are fine
What happens is when they come out and attack and everybody they decide to release this article - and get everybody upset
Malikis council comes out and says no we are not going to do this delete the zeroes...well you are an idiot if you don't understand what they are trying to do is stablize their currency
part of this whole Exchange - RV - everything that is going on out there is going to better your currency in the world and in the country
so obviously if you look at it from that standpoint you will see that there is a ton of attacks coming from him and he is just firing at every level - it got to the point where he got spanked pretty hard and then the Cabinet comes out and says you know we are not trying to link the government to the Central Bank - its not what our intention is here - we are going to yell at you but we just want the 62 billion in reserves so that we don't have to have a budget we can go spend it - we are politicians and thats what they do - we will make more of it when we do oil - well they need to understand the Central Bank is in control of all of that and needs that money for specific purposes and they dont get it
So they had to kinda come out and say it publicily and say they were not doing what they were actually trying to do and thats tickin people off
We read about coalitions building against Maliki at this point in time
we've talked about how there are new alliances between the Shites & Sunnis - talking about how Maliki's touched the third rail and decided he wants to go cuddle with Iran because thats where he runs when he is in trouble try to get their help and see what they can do - they are under sanctions - really not a whole lot he can do but go over there and try to plot or do something ...
I think you are going to see an uproar - I think he is losing his popular support and I think he is starting to lose the support of his parties
We are seeing this in articles that come out - I think these are honest articles that are coming out we are starting to see
Makes sense that there is not going to be 100% support for him
When Barzani gets back into this country I would assume that this this meeting they are going to have with the Kurdish region is going to be very important and we may see a couple of bones that will get thrown out there - whether those bones are enough to make the currency RV I don't know - He may have to do it - he might not wait- he may be forced to do it - his economic situation is getting pretty grave and pretty tough...he's got enough money to stablize any situation he's got there
But if you understand the economics of it its very difficult for him to flood the market with dollars - he would rather continue with the plan he's got going on ...
Remember he was ready to do this a year ago
He was ready to go and only in conjunction when he and the IMF have decided that everything is right -everything is okay that they can go ahead and move forward and do this - he's in control - he is just waiting to see what the situation is going to be and getting advice as to whats happening if I do it now...what happens if I do it now
What he gets now could be wiped out if the political situation is not corrected
So you have to get the leaders to understand what they are doing and he's got to figure out where he is at...so he's dancing around
Do not be surpised if you see the rate drop a little more - it went from 1170 to 1166 so do not be suprised if it drops 20-30 points -its not an RV but dont be surpised by that -something he has up his sleeve that he can do to help stop that currency from devaluing too much out in the market
We talked about starting to see some loosening with the oil and gas law -We've talked about how he was going to use that as a bargaining chip -in a good political standpoint you start throwing little bones out there to the people - well I'm not going to give up the ministers but we can start to figure out these oil contracts and you are starting to see that - we don't want Exxon to get really get po'd and leave but we would really like to have a piece of that pie because they sign these deals and we didn't really to get approve the contracts - thats covert for we didn't really get to put our little 1-2% in the contract that comes back to us and thats what they are fighting about when we talk about these articles - they dont trust each other because they are negotiations - they all think they are trying to screw each other - Well two rights do not make a wrong - if you sit there and you hold your hand with your partner and you hold it up and you start forcing your partners hand to the left and your partner trys forcing your hand to the right and you both start screaming I'm right - you sit in the middle all caught up in the middle and nothing happens - thats kinda what we are seeing - its the fight - Kurds are right because they have been hurt thru all of this
and he hasn't been up front and and he seems to be very power hungry - power hungry enough to say you guys have set me off in this direction - we dont want another Sadam - just remember people this is what it was but you can start to see signs of Maliki starting to weaken because is trying to run for help - -trying to look for allies and that is just a precursor of signs to come
So take a deep breath - things are still moving forward - the polticial situation is in a little bit of turmoil - there are people working to fix that situation - we also have an ambassador there working behind the scenes and if this becomes a vote of no-confidence there will be direction and they will go thru what they need to do
and then we will have to see - because once he is gone and out of the way everything is in place...IT IS ALL READY TO GO
the votes are all there - they've got everything they need to do - they need to implement it which means they need to have the programs in place to go forward and move into the next phase for them
But nobody said this was going to be easy - you've got alot of different political parties
It's moving at a pretty good pace all things considered when you think about what the mess was -this was the biggest problem years back - in the 1st Gulf war when we stopped short of taking Sadam out - this was the point - how do you get these regions to live together because they were so diverse...Sadam did it by killing people and keeping them under rule and keeping them poor..keeping them uneducated and not letting them have anything
Well we are starting to see things being built - malls, all these things getting built - this not going to go to waste - there are people who are working for Iraq to get that done
We are not there everyday - if we were we would be alot clearer if we were- we would be able to see the direction that it is going
But from the outside looking in its going to look like eggs being scrambled but once thats done we are going to have an omelet that comes out the other side that you can eat It will all get fixed and palatable when it comes out on the other side
What are the things we are looking for...HCL to be done...anything to do with oil to come out of this would be a positive step if he throws that out
Looking for maybe that no-confidence vote on Maliki or him to say okay this is it..I will give you the ministers, etc - I will sit back
It's like a game a chicken - he can go up to the last point until he knows they have all of the votes they need and then he can say okay I will give you what you want and then go back into it and hold on to his leadership role but it would not be for much longer after that - if he were to do that they would RV and things would start to change around very quickly -he would be lost in the mess
