Daraji said during a meeting with the Board of Trustees of the Housing Fund that seeks to be the Loan Fund Housing in Baghdad and the provinces rewarding citizens for the purpose of building residential units and this requires an increase in the ceiling of lending, noting that the amount of (50) million dinars will be rewarding for the citizen in the event of approval of the proposed for the purpose of building housing units.

He added that with any proposal to reduce the burden on the citizens and raise their suffering and provide them with decent housing in Baghdad and the provinces, stressing that the proposal to increase the loan requires an increase in the capital of the Fund.

And the approach the Ministry of Finance for the purpose of firing the amount of (45) billion dinars remaining within the federal budget for 2012 of the amount due of $ (95) billion dinars, and the emphasis on the Ministry of Finance to implement the Council resolution cabinets (145) for the year 2012 in the lending Fund an amount (150) billion dinars of banks and the Ministry of Finance without interest.

He also approached the House of Representatives to add the remaining amount of the annual allocation in accordance with the law of the Iraqi Housing Fund, which refers to the allocation of $ (200) billion dinars a year where the amount was added (95) billion dinars from the budget in 2012.

  India’s Reliance Globalcom sets up Iraq Subsea Broadband Link

India’s Reliance Globalcom, the underseas cable unit of Reliance Communications, has said it has launched a joint venture with the Iraqi Telecommunications and Post Company (ITPC) that substantially expands the country’s broadband and telecommunications links to the outside world.

By activating the Al-Faw Cable Landing Station (CLS), the venture will connect Iraq to countries in the Middle East, Asia, Europe and North America, reports Reuters.

The station has a design capacity of 680 Gbps with two routes, each connected to the Falcon undersea fiber-optic cable network owned by Reliance Globalcom, and will initially use 50 Gbps on each route to cater to existing market demand.

The project was the first cable network to land in Iraq, which has a population of 30 million people, less than 3 percent of whom are currently connected to the internet.

Reliance Globalcom Chief Operating Officer Rory Cole (pictured) said:

“We are delighted at achieving this historic milestone and being the first private service provider to activate submarine capacity in Iraq. Falcon offers seamless connectivity globally and will help connect Iraq to the rest of the world through the reach of our global network. This opens a new opportunity for multi-national companies around the world to have a better communication with Iraq and operate from this country.“

Iraq holds a pivotal geographical position in the region and could be an important communications bridge joining the Middle East with Europe and Asia.
